Evaluations
Thank you for considering Miss Daisy's to care for your furry family member. Owner Debbie Oliver has been working in the dog care business for 30 years. As a Certified Professional Dog Trainer - Knowledge & Skills Assessed, she doesn't just love dogs, she dedicated to making sure they are happy, healthy and living the best lives they possibly can. That is why she, as well as all of her employees, are constantly educating themselves in all aspects of dog health, wellness, safety, behavior, body language, training and enrichment.
*** Please Note *** Since making the switch from traditional day care to our customized activity center, customer response has been resoundingly positive. However, this has meant that the majority of our confirmed slots for the activity center are full. Because we currently have a wait list for activity center spots, we are only evaluating dogs who have previously trained with us, either in our puppy program, agility classes, obedience classes, FitPAWS or private training.
At Miss Daisy's, each dog is treated as the individual they are. That is why each dog is provided with a thorough, choice-based personality assessment. We take into account your dog's age, breed, training history, confinement/rest preference, play style, energy level, exercise requirements, health/injury status and personality when designing a program to best meet their individual needs.
Evaluations must be scheduled and paid for in advance. You will receive, via email, a questionnaire to fill out which will help us make your dog's personality assessment effective and fun! Each assessment is different because each dog is different. However, generally we spend some time with your dog in our office area while you are present, and if we think your pup is up for it, we will offer them a chance to play in a separate area while you watch on a closed circuit television feed. We use a variety of techniques and tools to find out what toys, games, interactions and play styles your dog prefers. If appropriate, we will also determine what type of doggie play group your pup enjoys. We will also assess what arrangement your dog prefers for rest periods. Some dogs prefer to rest in their own crate or a crate we have at camp. Others like to cuddle up with a canine buddy in one of our private suites. Some like to listen to music while others like quiet. Some even like to lounge in a doggie dorm room with a few other calm dogs.
Upon completion of the evaluation, we will recommend a plan that we think is best for your individual dog. It might be a program of day training transitioning to eventual days in our activity center. It might be a weekly or twice-monthly stay at the activity center for exercise and enrichment. Some dogs do best in private FitPAWS classes or group Just for Fun Agility programs. We don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to caring for your pet, so rest assured, our recommendations will be based on what we think is the best course of action for your individual dog.
